The Quay Watermen’s Association (QWA) is a social enterprise which has been offering River Dee boat trips from Connah’s Quay since 2016 using our two Coulam 20 Wheelyboats purchased with funding from a Coastal Communities Grant. The boats can seat up to eight adults or 6 wheelchair users and are fitted with the latest 90HP Suzuki Outboards. To cover our costs these are the minimum number of passengers per trip.
We are offering taster sessions .
These are bridge to bridge tours, with around 20 minutes on the water, seeing the River around the Connah's Quay area.
Trips to Chester and back.
Currently Quay River Tours can go up-stream as far as Chester Weir and back.
Safety: The boat’s skippers are DRB checked and fully insured.
The venture is licensed by the Dee Conservancy with all necessary risk assessments and safety equipment in place. Prior to sailing you will receive a safety brief and be kitted out in the latest Life Jackets.
The boats are also available for hire by individuals.
We welcome private parties, organisations such as bird-watchers, photography and history groups as well as for team building, (minimum number applies). Refreshments before, or after your River Dee trip can be arranged at the Kathleen and May Heritage Centre.
If you would like a slide presentation about QWA or Connah’s Quay before, or after, your boat trips this can be arranged.
